We left Sweden this morning driving to Norway. Obligatory rest stop for the most amazing candy store we have ever seen. After filling our candy ( licorice ) stores we went on to Oslo where we had a view of the city from the highest point around and then a guided tour of royal park with sculptures by a Norwegian artist in granite of many nude figures depicting the stages in the circle of life. After a quick sandwich lunch we went to the Nobel Peace Center where we heard the story of the Nobel Peace Prize ( the other Nobel Prizes all are given in Sweden, only the peace one is given in Norway.) We saw an actual prize medallion and also had an excellent presenter who ended the tour by explaining how democracy is lost in countries. Her explanation was based on what happened in Venezuela, but the parallels to our country was subtle but clear. We then walked back to the hotel, which is quite nice, for dinner and relaxing. It’s weird that it is 1130pm while I write this and it is still light out side. Tomorrow more from Oslo.
