Day Eight- Oslo to Lillehammer

This morning started out with a bus ride to Lillehammer the site of the 1994 Winter Olympics. We had a rest stop halfway to see one of the tallest all wood buildings where we had a treat of Nordic waffles with strawberry jam. The place was beautiful “all wood” construction. Then we went on to the ski jump area at the Olympic park and rode the ski lift up to the top and had a great view. There were some ski jumpers practicing on the special dry slope designed to simulate snow. After lunch in Lillehammer we went on a tour of an open air museum of old (1600s) farm houses and church. It is so cold there in the loooong Winters that cattle and goats have to be kept inside for the season! After checking into our hotel we walked to a micro brewery to have beer tasting and a delicious steak dinner with dessert of sorbet and “chocolate stone” which was chocolate covered mouse. Yum!
